I made this double-edged dagger at age 14 (I don't recall... it was almost 40 years ago). I got the blade material from my Uncle, who ran a forge. The steel is spring or sawblade stock -- he produced both. The guard is shaped from a thin sheet of brass with the edges rolled for stiffness. The blade was overheated during hardening, causing the "Brut de Forge" finish -- it's funny: that's actually become popular on "rugged" style blades.
