As we were leaving, mom's phone made a truly ugly sound - it was an alarm letting us know that San Jose had instituted a curfew to begin at 8:30 to quell the rioting. It gave us about 30 minutes to be off the street. But we were glad to depart... with two cars full of boxes of math books and such; and looking forward to the dinner mom made for us at home. : )
