I wanted my bike to ride like a bike, not some raked-out, ill-handling garbage truck.br/So, I paid close attention to rake amp; trail, and suspension path. This is a life-size drawing done in Adobe Illustrator (because I'm a career artist, and haven't figured out how to use CAD).br/You can't see it in this drawing, but I moved each suspension piece through it's stroke in 1/2quot; increments at the wheel, plotting the path of the front axle. If the path of the axle is vertical, the front end will have no brake-dive, which can be disconcerting. If the axle path leans leans forward, then it will actually RISE on the brakes, which would be super weird. I chose to have the axle path lean rearward, but not a lot, to give it a little bit of brake dive for a familiar feeling.br/Another thing you can see in this pic is that I've settled on using 1quot;x3quot; rectangular tubing for all the suspension elements, a triumph of convenience and speedy build over artistic intentions.
